Analysis of existing buildings.
This course contains describing the design process in four steps: seeing, recognizing, transforming, producing.
The student is able to develop his knowledge of the programmatic, architectural and typological characteristics of the assignment through study of relevant precedents.

We choose Renzo Piano as architect from which we study the repertory. Whey thoke two opposite buildings from his repertory: Kansai Airport and Tjibaou Cultural Centre. This buildings we analyse and compar throw introducing them with photo’s, studying trough models and drawings to understand them on a organisation, programmes and conceptional level.
Whe came to the conclusion that Renzo Piano is a Humanistic architect and important instruments/ themes in his work are Genius Loci and Transparency. The argumentation for or thesis is summarized above in a A1 presentation pallet (Dutch, click on it to enlarge it).
